Prof. Xu Jianliang from Hong Kong Baptist University Visited the Lab

On May 15, 2015, at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Networking and Switching Technology, Prof. Xu Jianliang of Hong Kong Baptist University visited the lab. Prof. Xu made a lecture on "Secure Query Processing in Outsourced Cloud Environments)" for the lab and students. In this lecture, Professor Xu Jianliang analyzed and solved the problem of safe query processing in the outsourcing cloud environment from theory and practice, and introduced some recent research on the query processing and result verification of privacy protection. Prof Xu pointed out that with the advent and popularity of large data, the demand for outsourcing management of data has risen, and the cloud service provider would replace the data owner with the query service for the customer. Despite the good flexibility, scalability, and self-management capabilities of the cloud, there were many challenges that continue to pose problems with its credibility. The Cloud's service provider was unreliable, and there was a potential for damage to the result of an attack, which posed a security threat to the integrity and correctness of data privacy and queries. Based on the above considerations, the introduction of privacy protection and validation of results in outsourcing database are very necessary and urgent.

After the lecture, Prof. Xu , the teachers and students communicated enthusiastically. Students discussed in depth with Prof. Xu Jianliang about the report and their own research content.
