>>Bio

Prof. Junliang Chen, CAS and CAE Academician, is the founder of the State Key Laboratory of Network and Switching Technology. He was also awarded the China Computer Federation's Lifetime Achievement Award. He pioneered switching technologies and intelligent communication networks in China's communications industry.

In the 1960s, Prof. Chen was one of the major researchers of wired 600/1200 baud rate and wireless 600 baud data transmission equipment. The wireless equipment became the data communication system for China’s first satellite, Dong Fang Hong.

In the 1980s, he was engaged in research on China’s first digital stored program control telephone switching system DS-2000, proposing the theoretical model of digital switching network and the diagnosing algorithms for switching system. This achievement won the first price of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

In the 1990s, Prof. Chen took the lead in intelligence study on networking in China and directed the research on China’s first intelligent network system. The products spawned by the system have accounted for more than 90% of domestic fixed-line telephone intelligent networks.

In the 21st century, he focuses on mobile communication networks and the internet, dedicated to developing integrated, personalized, and diversified services. He was also the founding director of the Service Computing Committee of the China Computer Federation.
